Cairn from Creebridge

The Creebridge Cairn is a well-preserved cairn near the Cree Bridge , to the east of Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland .

The almost 3.0 m high Bell-type cairn with a diameter of 19.5 m is located in a clearing south of New Galloway Road (B7079) and is one of a series of five Cairns (High and Low Lessons, Kirroughtree House East, North and west) in this area. He stands on a flat, round platform made of stones that surrounds him over a width of 4.5 to 6.0 m. The ground slopes towards the south and in this direction the platform has a height of about 1.35 m. On the north side it seems to be lower, but was disturbed by the wall at the roadside. The cairn has not been excavated but, although oval, is compared to the Knowes o 'Trotty , which contained stone boxes .
