Canon EOS 650

The Canon EOS 650 is a small picture - SLR camera from Canon .

history

On March 2, 1987, the 50th anniversary of the founding of the company, which later was called Canon, the EOS 650 was ceremoniously presented to the public as the first camera of the EOS system. EOS stands for "Electro-Optical System", ie for "electro-optical system". Together with the EOS 650, three EF lenses were presented, namely the 35–70 mm / 3.5–4.5, the 35–105 mm / 3.5–4.5 and the 50 mm / 1.8. The EOS 650 was manufactured from February 1987 to February 1989.

properties

The EOS 650 has a relatively fast and relatively reliable autofocus, which was a feature of the EOS cameras' superiority for about 1.6 years.

The EOS 650 has the EF bayonet which is specific to the EOS system. EF stands for "electrically focussed", ie for "electrically focused". In the EOS system, the focus motor and the diaphragm motor are built into the lens housing, resulting in technical advantages, lower camera prices and higher lens prices. The EF bayonet has electrical contacts, but no other couplings (apart from the bayonet itself). The electrical contacts enable the reporting of lens data, control of the focus motor and control of the aperture motor.

The EOS 650's light sensitivity settings range from 6.25 ASA to 6,400 ASA. However, the photosensitivity of the films available at that time only ranges from 25 ASA to 1,600 ASA. The range of exposure times is from 1/2000 seconds to 32.768 seconds. Bulb control is also possible. The X synchronous time is 1/125 seconds. The EOS 650 weighs about 660 grams including a 2CR5 battery. It can take 3 pictures per second. The ergonomically shaped housing is made of robust plastic. The bayonet is made of metal. The viewfinder contains a penta prism. The viewfinder screen, the rear wall and the handle are exchangeable. The dimensions are 148mm * 108.3mm * 67.5mm.
