Captain Kangaroo was an American television series.
Topics from the world of adults were dealt with in a playful way in a child-friendly manner. The protagonists were dolls in the shape of a kangaroo, rabbit, elk, worm and frog. The role of Captain Kangaroo was played by Bob Keeshan . Captain Kangaroo was broadcast weekly by CBS on educational television for preschoolers from October 3, 1955 to 1984, making it the longest-running series on US children's programming. Captain Kangaroo also became famous for the Statler Brothers' country song Flowers on the Wall . This song is also part of the soundtrack for the film Pulp Fiction .
