Carl Wilhelm Anton Erxleben (born December 30, 1815 in Nordholz near Cuxhaven , † February 14, 1882 in Aurich ) was a German politician, Landdrost and administrative officer.

Life

Carl Erxleben was born on December 30, 1815 in Nordholz near Cuxhaven as the son of the bailiff Julius Carl Friedrich Erxleben, who worked in Achim near Bremen and later in Osnabrück. His brother was the legal scholar Albrecht Erxleben . Carl Erxleben studied law at the University of Göttingen until autumn 1837 . During his studies in Göttingen, like his older brother, he became a member of the Corps Hannovera and later the Corps Bremensia .

In 1848 he became a consultant to the Ministry of the Interior of the Kingdom of Hanover , was promoted to government councilor in 1853 and was a member of the consistory in Hanover. In 1856 he was promoted to the secret government council. From 1858 to 1862 Erxleben was a deputy at the 2nd Chamber of the State Assembly of the Kingdom of Hanover for the cities of Aurich and Esens. In addition, he was Landdrost (District President) of East Friesland until 1867 .
