Cederberg is a municipality in the West Coast District , Western Cape Province in South Africa . In 2011 the population was 49,768 on a total area of ​​7,347 km². The seat of the municipal administration is Clanwilliam .

The community was named after the Afrikaans word for "cedar mountain". There are cedars here in the mountains , the wood from which furniture and other household appliances were made in earlier years. The wood contains oil that protects against pests. These cedars are now under nature protection.
