Cederberg is a municipality in the West Coast District , Western Cape Province in South Africa . In 2011 the population was 49,768 on a total area of 7,347 km². The seat of the municipal administration is Clanwilliam .
The community was named after the Afrikaans word for "cedar mountain". There are cedars here in the mountains , the wood from which furniture and other household appliances were made in earlier years. The wood contains oil that protects against pests. These cedars are now under nature protection.

In 2011 the community had 49,768 inhabitants. Of these, 75.5% were colored , 12.7% black and 11% white.
85.4% of the speakers were Afrikaans, 4.8% IsiXhosa , 2.4% Sesotho and 1.8% English.
