Chab Chab
A chab chab is a piece of jewelry that wealthy Tibetan women pinned to their clothes, usually below the right shoulder. It consists of a brooch-like main part on which various utensils hang by means of thin chains. Among these are mainly personal hygiene tools such as tweezers, a spoon to clean the ears, a toothpick and small knives for manicures.
Manufacture and material
Most of the chab chab are made of silver; they are rarely found made of gold or base metals. The brooch-like main part, to which a chain with an eyelet is attached, was made in driving work with additional engravings, while the appendages were mostly made in cast work with subsequent decorative engravings.
