Chalida Jarrar

Chalida Jarrar (also Khalida Jarrar ; Arabic خالدة جرار, DMG Ḫālida Ǧarrār ; * 1963 ) is a Palestinian politician of the party “ Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine ” (PFLP). She is a member of the Palestinian Parliament.

Jarrar studied at Bir Zait University . She has not been allowed to leave the West Bank since 1998 . In 2006 she was elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council. On April 2, 2015, soldiers from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stormed her home in al-Bireh . She has been detained for months on end, sometimes without charge. The daily Haaretz therefore called Jarrar “Israel's No. 1 female political prisoner ".

On February 28, 2019, Chalida Jarrar was released without charge after serving almost two years in prison.
