Chatzon

Chatzon ( Middle Greek Χάτζων ) was a leader of the slaves in the Balkans around the year 615.

In the year 615 Slavic tribes attacked the Byzantine city of Thessaloniki under their " exarch " ( έξαρχος Σκλαβίνων ) Chatzon . An attempt at conquest from the sea failed due to a strong storm. Chatzon came to town (as a prisoner or an emissary ?) And was killed. Thereupon the siege was broken off by the slaves.
