Chemisettes

Chemisette (also Chemisett ) is a foreign word adopted from French; it is the diminutive of the French chemise ( shirt ). So it means a shirt or small shirt. In men's fashion, it describes the starched shirt front on tailcoat and tuxedo shirts. In women's fashion, it refers to a white insert (collar, kerchief) on the front upper part of the women's dress or suit. Such a chemisette is usually made of white, dense or thin material ( batiste , tulle , muslin ).
