Chevrolet Kingswood Estate station wagon (1970)

The Chevrolet Kingswood Estate was a station wagon that Chevrolet manufactured from 1969 to 1972. It differed from the simpler Kingswood model in its imitation wood on the sides of the vehicle and the rear door, as well as a slightly more luxurious interior. A small number of 1969 models also had covered headlights on request. The cars were based on the GM-B platform and were only available with V8 engines. Its limousine counterpart was the Caprice , and from 1973 the model was also called the Chevrolet Caprice Estate . At the time it was the top model in the Chevrolet station wagon range.

In the 1969 and 1970 model years, the Kingswood Estate - like all large Chevrolet station wagons - was equipped with a rear door that could be opened either to the side or downwards. The rear window was lowered for this purpose. If the door was opened sideways, the rear bumper was provided with a recess to make it easier for passengers on the third bench to get in and load the optionally available roof rack. If the door was opened downwards, the fitting was in this recess , which was unlocked when opened to the side and thus released the step.
