Chiappa Peninsula

Chiappa lighthouse

The Chiappa Peninsula is located near the city of Porto-Vecchio in southern Corsica . It shields the inner Gulf of Porto-Vecchio from the south and east. The D 859 runs as a ring road through the peninsula, the northernmost point of which is the lighthouse of Pointe de la Chiappa . The lighthouse was put into service in 1845. It is 16 m high and is 64 m above sea level. Its light shines only 23 miles, so 42 km, far. From here you have a view of the Gulf of Porto-Vecchio with its mountainous hinterland to the northern bay of Stagnolo , the small Golfo di Sogno and the headland of the seaside resort of San Ciprianu . Otherwise, the area around the lighthouse is firmly in the hands of a large club-style nudist complex with bungalows and camping.

Palombaggia / Tamaricciu beach

The most famous bathing place is the beach of Palombaggia , a public bathing bay on the Chiappa peninsula. The bay, 2 km in length, is surrounded by a pine forest that shadows the dunes. Red rocks frame the ultramarine-blue, turquoise-colored, clear water and offer a clear view of the offshore Iles Cerbicale . Thousands of crows nest on the rock islands surrounded by reefs. The entire archipelago is under nature protection. The beach is a main subject for photos of Corsica.

There is also a white sandy beach with crystal clear, blue and turquoise shimmering water at Plage de Santa Giulia to the south .

The almost circular Baie de Rondinara forms the end of the bathing bays . One of the bases of the water sports center can be found here.
