history

The church was built by the architect Riccardo Mazzanti in 1901 in neo-Romanesque style on the Lungarno Torrigiani directly on the left bank of the Arno in the area of the old town. A German-speaking Lutheran congregation was officially allowed to hold services in the Stade from 1899. The first line of the Luther song A strong castle is our God was placed above the entrance portal . The Chiesa Luterana was also damaged by the Arno flood disaster of 1966, which flooded large parts of Florence. It was restored by the architect Vinicio Brilli. Today the church services of the Swiss Reformed Congregation are celebrated in the church.
