The Chinese American Museum of Chicago is an American immigration and ethnic museum in Chicago , showing the history of the Chinese in the United States . The museum opened in May 2005 and reopened in 2010 after a devastating fire in 2008. The aim of the museum is to promote Sino-American culture through exhibitions, education and research and to address the history, present and future of the American Chinese, especially in the Midwest .
