from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Chinese Cultural Renaissance (中華 文化 復興 運動) was initiated in November 1966 by around 1,500 Chinese, including Ke Sun, Yunwu Wang, Lifu Chen, Qitian Chen, Decheng Kong in the Republic of China (Taiwan) . In July, the following year 1967, the Chinese Cultural Renaissance Committee (中華 文化 復興 運動 總會) was established. The first president of the committee was Chiang Kai-shek , President of the Republic of China in Taiwan.

The goal of the Renaissance was to maintain or save Chinese culture both in Taiwan and in the Chinese circle abroad. Politically speaking, the Renaissance was a campaign against the Cultural Revolution (文化大革命) of the Communist People's Republic of China , which was unleashed in mainland China by dictator Mao Zedong (毛澤東) .
