Chipirones en su tinta ( squids in their own ink) are a traditional Basque fish dish which, in its basic form, consists of squids with their own ink, fish stock, white wine, onions, tomatoes, olive oil, garlic and salt. This fish dish gets its typical black color from the body's own ink of the calamars or separately prepared squid ink.
