Científico

Científicos is the name given to the supporters of French positivism during the so-called Porfiriats in Mexico .

It was a group of intellectuals who supported the development dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz because they believed that through pacification of the country and a stable state order, technical and economic progress could be achieved. The primary guideline of this group was scientific research and the orientation towards the laws of nature. The positivists justified economic liberalism, but completely rejected political liberalism. The French positivism Auguste Comtes was brought to Mexico by Gabino Barreda .
