Circus Oz
Circus Oz is a contemporary circus company based in Melbourne , Australia . It was created in 1978 through the merger of the Soapbox Circus and New Circus groups.
The concept is comparable to that of the later founded Cirque du Soleil : Classical elements such as animal numbers are dispensed with and instead a mixture of acrobatics, theatrical art and live music is offered. It is limited to around a dozen actors who carry out the entire show in the various roles, from artist to musician, alone. Therefore it is assigned to the Cirque Nouveau .
Circus Oz has performed in 26 countries on five continents so far.
