Clayton Dills

Clayton A. Dills (born April 2, 1908 in Rosston , Texas , † December 1980 in Carmichael , California ) was an American politician. He belonged to the Democratic Party .

Clayton Dills' family moved to California when he was 17 years old. Clayton was first elected to the California State Assembly in 1942 , where he represented the 67th electoral district. He was re-elected eleven times in a row - the last time in 1964 with 64.4% - and was a member of the House of Representatives for 22 years without interruption. Until 1949 he sat with his younger brother Ralph (electoral district 69) in the State Assembly. After the US presidential election in 1948 , Clayton, like his brother, belonged to the Electoral College .

Clayton Dills died in 1980 at the age of 72.
