clinch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Clinch.

In boxing, a clinch refers to the illegal clasping of the opponent. This often happens out of exhaustion or to prevent a knockout . The referee cautions boxers for this unfair and prohibited behavior; Repeated use of the clinch by a boxer can lead to the fight being abandoned.

The clinch is also used in Muay Thai (but here in accordance with the rules) to hit the opponent with knee kicks. There are also a number of clinch techniques in Muay Thai to control the opponent in combat or simply to throw him to the ground.

Colloquially, "to be at odds with someone" means to have an argument with someone.
