Club of the Energy Transition States

The Club of the energy transition states (international English. Renewables Club ) was 1 June 2013 in Berlin founded by ten states with the aim of expanding the renewable energy drive worldwide. The contract came into force on January 1, 2014.

In addition to the International Renewable Energy Organization (IRENA), the founding members are the following countries: People's Republic of China , Denmark , Germany , France , Great Britain , India , Morocco , South Africa , Tonga and the United Arab Emirates .

Activities and goals of the club

In its founding communiqué, the club advocates the following goals:

  • Renewable energies should become key elements for economic growth, social prosperity and stable environmental conditions.
  • There is a greater, especially public, awareness to be created that renewable energies play a crucial role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, can stabilize the climate and ensure energy security and economic prosperity.
  • Together with the United Nations Sustainable Energy For All initiative, support is to be provided by 2030 to ensure that everyone has universal access to modern energy, that the share of renewable energies doubles by 2030 and that the rate of increase in the efficient use of energies in the states also doubles by 2030 becomes.
  • The club will work closely with IRENA and support its energy and climate policy goals.
