CoRAP

CoRAP ( English Community Rolling Action plan , German  ongoing Community Action Plan ) is a process in the enforcement of EU chemicals legislation REACH .

In REACH - English for registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals - CoRAP is located in the evaluation step . The CoRAP lists the substances that have to be assessed within three years. The inclusion in the list of substances is based on risk-based criteria, which relate to hazards, exposures and quantities of the substance used. In addition, the interests and capacities of the EU member states are also decisive for inclusion in the CoRAP list. The list shows the initial concerns about the substance and the Member State doing the assessment. According to Article 46, Paragraph 4 of the REACH Regulation, the competent authorities of the member state have twelve months to evaluate the substance.

Once the assessment is complete, there are different risk management options:

  • Request for information
  • Authorization procedure ( SVHC , substances subject to authorization in Annex XIV)
  • Restriction procedure (substances with restrictions on manufacture, placing on the market and use in Annex XVII)
  • Harmonized classification and labeling ( CLP )

Substance list

The list currently (September 2018) includes 352 substances which have been assessed by EU member states on the basis of suspected negative effects on human health or the environment or whose assessment has been assigned to a member state. Between 2016 and 2018, 138 substances are to be evaluated under the CoRAP, and a further 96 between 2019 and 2021.
