The Comunitas pension foundation , based in Bern, is a pension fund of the Swiss municipalities and institutions with public tasks. As a pension fund, it insures employees of the Swiss Association of Municipalities and its members under the 2nd pillar .

history

The pension scheme was founded in 1966 as a pension fund of the Swiss Association of Municipalities. At that time it belonged to the Intercantonal Community Foundation for Pension Fund as a department with special assets and its own bodies. In 1988 the pension fund was converted into an independent foundation . At the end of 2016, a total of 641 employers were affiliated with it, including 252 municipalities, 389 municipal companies and institutions, with 11,805 actively insured persons and 3,038 pensioners. The investments amounted to 2.079 billion Swiss francs.

In 2016, the boards of trustees of the two pension schemes Comunitas and Previs made the fundamental decision to merge. Under the umbrella brand "Previs Vorsorge", more than 1,300 affiliated employers with around 37,000 insured persons and pensioners will be looked after. Comunitas continues to operate as an independent pension fund under the Previs umbrella brand with the previous name "Comunitas". Comunitas is organized as a community foundation, Previs as a collective foundation. The pension plans affiliated to it are therefore managed separately financially, in terms of insurance and organization.

With the entry in the commercial register, the merger became legally binding on November 13, 2017, retroactively to January 1, 2017.

Legal bases

The legal basis is formed by the Federal Act on Occupational Old-Age, Survivors 'and Disability Pension Plans , the Federal Act on Freedom of Movement in Occupational Old-Age, Survivors' and Disability Pension Plans and the associated ordinances. The legal basis also includes the affiliation agreement, the articles of association and the regulations of the Comunitas pension foundation.

organization

The highest executive management body of the foundation is the foundation board . This is composed equally of 6-10 employer and employee representatives and is elected for four years by the delegates' assembly, which is also composed of equal numbers. The day-to-day operations are carried out by the office.
