Continue Directe Democratie Partij

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Continue Directe Democratie Partij (CDDP, Continuous Direct Democracy Party) is a Dutch party.

history

The party was founded in 2005 by Rob Verboom. The party's aim is to introduce direct democracy in the Netherlands. With Verboom as the top candidate, the CDDP ran in the parliamentary elections of 2006 in 13 of the 19 constituencies, but could not move into the Dutch lower house with 559 votes (0.0%) .

Party platform

The CDDP is not a party with an actual party program; rather, the members of the CDDP should decide the positions that the CDDP would have to represent in a parliament. It does not see itself as belonging to a political direction and not as a party in the true sense of the word, rather it sees itself as a manifestation of a new electoral system that could break through political apathy. In the conventional party system, it is only possible to vote for the party that is most likely to represent one's own point of view, many of which would then be lost in coalition negotiations. Representative democracy has the advantage that MPs make the decisions and the voter does not have to deal with them, but the latter no longer has any influence within the legislative period.
