Corona exploratoria

The Corona exploratoria ("scout crown") was one of the awards given by the Roman military. According to the writer Suetonius , it was created during the procession of Emperor Caligula across the Rhine, when the Emperor sent a troop of Praetorians into a fictitious attack. It is said to have been decorated with the sun, moon and stars.
