The COSMETICA is one of the first and oldest German trade fairs for applied cosmetics . For over 30 years, KOSMETIK international Messe GmbH, based in Gaggenau, has been organizing, planning and designing four COSMETICA trade fairs in Hanover, Stuttgart, Frankfurt (formerly Wiesbaden) and Berlin every year. The trade fair akzente in Sindelfingen and GUT zu FUSS in Stuttgart are also part of the organizer's offer. KOSMETIK international Messe cooperates with the media company KOSMETIK international Verlag.

The COSMETICA trade fairs are characterized by a balanced mix of business and training, emotions and communication as well as innovations and shows. They offer a comprehensive and up-to-date range of brands and companies in the areas of care, apparatus and decorative cosmetics, hand, nail and foot care, wellness and accessories. One focus is the informative and qualified advanced training program with specialist lectures and workshops. The trade fair concept is rounded off by a varied show program. Another integral part of the COSMETICA trade fairs are the competitions. In addition to the COSMETICA School Award, KOSMETIK international organizes an annual make-up artist competition and gives the COSMETICA Newcomer Award to the most promising young make-up artist up to the age of 30.

In the 2016/17 financial year, around 575 exhibiting companies and brands in Hanover and around 510 exhibiting companies and brands in Berlin used the COSMETICA trade fairs to present their products to a broad specialist audience. Frankfurt had around 677 exhibiting companies and brands, COSMETICA Stuttgart, together with GUT zu FUSS, had around 620. Around 234 companies are exhibiting at akzente. In total, over 54,000 trade visitors came to find out more at akzente, GUT zu FUSS and the COSMETICA trade fairs.
