The cotillac is a form of the female outer garment, the bliaud , as it appeared in France during the 13th century .

The Cotillac is a garment without sleeves , which reaches up to the neck and rests close to the upper body. It is cut open at the side and is laced and wrinkled around the feet from the waist down in rich folds.
