Daniel Bartlett Allyn (born September 24, 1959 in Berwick , Maine ) is a former general in the United States Army (USA). He was from August 15, 2014 to June 16, 2017 Deputy Chairman of the General Staff of its armed force (ger .: Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Army ).

Allen previously served as Commander of the United States Army Forces Command (FORSCOM), the largest of the US Army's twelve main commandos, based in Fort Bragg , North Carolina, from May 2013 .

biography

Allyn graduated from the United States Military Academy , West Point , New York in 1981 . His further education includes a Masters degree in Strategic and National Security Studies from Naval War College , Newport , Rhode Island .

He was active in South Korea , the US invasion of Grenada (1983), Egypt , Panama , Saudi Arabia , the Second Gulf War in Kuwait , Iraq and the war in Afghanistan . He was u. a. Commanding general with the rank of lieutenant general of the XVIII Airborne Corps and from 2010 to 2012 of the 1st Cavalry Division .
