David A. Aaker

David Allen Aaker (* 1938 in Fargo , North Dakota ) is an American economist .

He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree and then received Ph. D. and MA from Stanford University .

From 1981 until his retirement in 2000 he was Professor of Marketing at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley . Towards the end of the 1980s, he was in charge of developing the concept of brand value. Aaker is also Vice-Chairman of the strategy consultancy Prophet.

Aaker received the Paul D. Converse Award in 1996 for outstanding contributions to the further development of marketing and has published a total of over 100 articles; He has received multiple Best Article Awards from the Journal of Marketing and the California Management Review .

He is a member of the Board of Directors of California Casualty Insurance Company and Contra-Costa Food Bank.
