Cover register

The cover tab is according to § 24 of the livestock transport regulation prescribed (ViehVerkV) for document holders of bulls, stallions, boars, as well as sheep and goats, which to cover foreign animals are employed. It must either be bound and provided with page numbers or be kept as a loose-leaf copy system with verifiable systematic records. It must be kept for one year and is used to make animal contacts in connection with breeding and other animal diseases traceable . Violations of the keeping of the cover register will be punished as an administrative offense.

The following information must be documented in the cover register:

  1. Name and address of the keeper of the male breeding animal
  2. Species, breed, age, name, badge, marking and, if applicable, breed number of the father animal
  3. Name and address of the keeper of the covered animal
  4. Ear tag number or other identification as well as age and breed of the mated animal
  5. Day of mating.
