Red Stage (Defqon.1 Weekend Festival 2019)

The Defqon.1 festival is an annual music event that mainly focuses on hardstyle and hardcore techno (including various subgenres). It has been organized by the organizer and record label Q-Dance since 2003 .

history

The festival was first held in 2003 on Almere beach in the Dutch province of Flevoland . It showed elaborate stage sets, lighting effects and fireworks shows. The festival lasted 12 hours each until 2012 and took place from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

At the beginning of 2011, the organizer announced that Defqon.1 would no longer take place in Almere due to a lack of permits. The festival then found its new location in Biddinghuizen, near the amusement park Walibi Holland , where it first took place on June 25, 2011. The site was previously used as a venue for other major festivals such as the Lowlands . Defqon.1 has been running for three days since 2012, from Friday at 8 p.m. to Sunday at 11 p.m. On Saturdays there is an after party beyond the normal festival day until 4 a.m.

On September 19, 2009 Defqon.1 took place for the first time in Sydney , Australia . The International Regatta Center, which was built in 2000 for the Summer Olympics , was chosen as the venue .

On December 12, 2015 there was an offshoot of Defqon.1 in South America for the first time. The Centro de Eventos Munich in Santiago de Chile served as the venue . After a second edition in 2016, the Chilean edition was discontinued.

55,000 visitors have come every year since 2012. The proportion of available tickets for visitors to the three-day event increases every year, and the number of day tickets available for the Saturday and Sunday of the festival falls accordingly. While there were 15,000 campers in 2012 and 20,000 in 2013, there were already 30,000 guests at Defqon.1 in 2014 who bought tickets for all three days of the festival. 2015 was expanded to 60,000 visitors.

Since 2017 it has been possible to pre-register for ticket sales.
