description

Lettering
Stele in perspective

The monument consists of a concrete stele about three meters high and one meter wide. The stele is oriented in the east-west direction. Slightly below half the height, this stele is broken up by the writing “3 OCT 1990”, which shows the date of reunification. This lettering is not closed off by the stone on the left and right (i.e. in the east and west), but breaks through its edge to the outside, which indicates the opening of the borders.

Profile writing on the transformer house

Concrete benches are arranged on both sides of the wall. The seated people can look through the openings in the wall, a further indication of the opening of the wall.

About ten meters east of the monument there is a transformer house , which is connected to the monument by a paved path. On the back of the transformer house facing the monument, thoughts on German unity and impressions of reunification are affixed to the plaster in profile writing.
