Detachment

A detachment is a smaller division of troops that has been branched off from the formation of a larger army in order to solve an independent war task. This task can be: covering a convoy, observing enemy troops, securing the flank of an army. With the term detachment, the fact is usually linked that the troops in question corps because of the independent task from departments of various weapons genres composed.

The formation of a detachment always weakens the main force and is therefore only carried out after a thorough examination of the necessity.
