The German-Czech-Austrian battlegroup is an EU battlegroup under the leadership of Germany with the participation of the Czech Republic , Austria , Croatia , Ireland and North Macedonia .

In the first half of 2012, the international preparation took place together with the other participating nations in order to be able to establish operational readiness as planned from July 1, 2012. Language training was also an important part - the Battlegroup's working language is English.

The second operating period of this battlegroup is planned for the second half of 2016. Macedonia was an exceptional participant in 2012 as a non-member of the European Union and does not participate in this battlegroup in 2016. In addition, Luxembourg and the Netherlands are taking part in 2016 . In this composition it is also referred to for short as EUBG 2016-2 .
