The German-Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DTIHK) , based in Prague, is a German chamber of commerce abroad. The umbrella organization is the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK). The DTIHK employs around 40 people and with around 680 voluntary members is the largest bilateral chamber of commerce in the Czech Republic . The service company AHK Services sro (100% subsidiary) belongs to DTIHK.

history

In 1993, the DTIHK was founded as the successor to the delegation of German business in the Czech Republic with 191 member companies. By 1998 the number of members was doubled. In the following year, the DTIHK was able to move into its new premises on Wenceslas Square in Prague. In 2010, the service company AHK Services sro was founded as a 100% subsidiary of DTIHK. A year later, the cooperation agreement for the opening of the joint regional office in Pilsen with the Regensburg Chamber of Commerce for Upper Palatinate / Kelheim was signed. 2018 was the anniversary of the founding of the DTIHK and the Chamber of Commerce Abroad celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The highest organ of the DTIHK is the general assembly, which meets once a year. This elects eleven board members. The current president of the DTIHK is Jörg Mathew (board member responsible for economics and finances at Hochtief CZ). Bernard Bauer , executive board member of DTIHK, heads the operational business .

Functions

The DTIHK connects Czech and German business and promotes economic and political cooperation between the two countries. Through its subsidiary AHK Services sro, it advises and supports with numerous services when entering the market in the Czech Republic and Germany. On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics , it offers German and Czech companies a broad network on site and represents their interests in front of politics and the public.

The AHKs are the central actors in German foreign trade promotion on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany. They represent German business interests in their host countries and provide information and promote Germany as a business location.

Membership organization

The AHKs unite companies that are active in bilateral economic relations. These members give the AHK weight and voice when it comes to politics, business and administration to promote bilateral economic relations. The members meet regularly at various events. The most popular event formats are the Jours Fixes, Speed ​​Business Meetings, the DTIHK Summer Festival or the Oktoberfest in Prague.
