The German Company Sports Association e. V. ( DBSV ) is the umbrella organization of all state company sports associations in Germany, based in Berlin.

history

With the interest group of the company sports communities and associations of the Federal Republic including West Berlin (IG). the history of the association began in 1954. At the invitation of the Association of Company Sports Clubs from 1949 e. V. Hamburg had on 16./17. January 1954 met around 50 company athletes in Dortmund and founded the community.

In 1955, the German Sports Association officially recognized the interest group as a representative of company sports and from May 14, 1960 it has also been the "Association with special tasks" of the Sports Association. On the same day, the name was changed to Bund Deutscher Betriebssportverbände (BDBV) . In September 1960 the association had 69,059 members, 6,483 of whom were women. In May 1998 the association was renamed the German Company Sports Association (DBSV) .

As of January 1, 2018, the DBSV had 242,843 members. They were distributed among company sports communities and clubs. The company sports offer includes all forms of popular, leisure and health sports.

Organized company sport in Germany is based on its mission statement, which reads as follows

“Organized company sports, as a partner and member of the German Sports Confederation, offer people in professional life and employees who have retired due to their age or job market, as well as their family members and friends, a wide range of sports activities. The main focus is on popular, leisure and health sports. The objective of company sport - in a constantly changing social and labor market environment - is to convey a balanced overall benefit for its members as well as for public and private employers. We achieve this goal through a high quality standard of organized company sport as a solidarity community and as a social service provider. The focus of efforts in company sport is on people; Health is his greatest asset. "
