Meanwhile, two series of comics from the Diablo universe have appeared. Diablo - Tales of Sanctuary and Diablo - Sword of Justice

Diablo - Tales of Sanctuary

Diablo - Tales of Sanctuary is a comic by Dark Horse Comics and consists of three comic short stories based on the world from the computer role-playing game Diablo 2 . In each story, the possible player characters take on the roles of heroes.

Anger (rage)

The story Anger is about the druid Azgar. He lives alone and withdrawn in a cave. The reason for this is the blindness of his younger brother, which the druid inflicted on him during his bear metamorphosis. To prevent this from happening again, Azgar stays away from the village and defends it outside. The plot begins with a boy going to Azgar to bring him to help the village against a major attack by the demons . After telling the boy his dramatic background, Azgar takes on the demons. Azgar is killed at the end of the battle and then finds forgiveness from his brother.

The Hand of Naz

The story is about Renit, a barbarian who emerges as the only survivor in a battle of his own kind against the demons, and Cairo, a student of the necromancy, whose masters and comrades also fell victim to the demons. Since then she has been looking for an ancient artifact , the hand of Naz . The hand of Naz is a protective glove that allows the wearer to summon an army of ghosts to obey his orders. At their first meeting, Renit saves Cairo from poison spiders when he himself is on the run from the demons. After their explanation, they team up and later discover the hand in an old coffin on the skeleton of a king. Renit takes the glove and an undead army is raised. Instead of helping Cairo, he abandons the undead and flees. Soon afterwards he meets the demons with his summoned army. While the battle rages, the late king appears among the ghosts and kills Renit. After the fight, Renit is resuscitated by Cairo. She explains to him that she is actually a master and that she knew about all of this. Thereupon she destroys the jewel of Naz that is on the outside of the glove to gain knowledge of this army.

Hatred's Bride

The final story is about Hale, a Zakarum paladin whose destiny is to drive away evil and help the innocent. As Bay, a farm girl whose family is attacked and killed by demons, Hale saves her. As a result, he takes her to deliver her to a Zakarum monastery and spend the night. The monks take the girl into their care. During the night, various nightmares wake Hale, whereupon he decides to inquire about the monastery. He discovers all the monks in the cellar at the sacrifice of Bay to their master Mephisto. Hale tries to free the child, but the monk who controls the girl can escape through a portal. Whereupon Hale kills all remaining monks and burns the monastery down.

Play related

Anger obviously takes place between Act 3 and Act 5 of the game story, when Baal, Diablo's younger brother, moved from the town of Kurast via Scosglen, the home of the Druids, to Mount Arreat with his army. Accordingly, the Hand of Naz takes place before the fifth act, when Baal reaches the barbarian tribes that live at the foot of the mountain. The Bride of Hate clearly plays in the first act, as the demons of the story are goats in human form and Mephisto (Lord of Hate) still exists.

Diablo - Sword of Justice

Diablo - Sword of Justice is a comic book series from DC Comics and consists of 5 parts. Jacob, the antagonist, has visions of a prophecy from Tyrael's sword, which ultimately lead him to the archangel himself.

Play related

The comics are set 20 years after LOD and build a bridge between D2 and D3. They show what happened in Sanctuary over the past 20 years.
