Diathesis

Diathesis (Greek: διάθεσις [f.] Diáthesis " setting apart", "arrangement", "condition", "genus (of the verb)"; not to be confused with modern Greek: διάθεση [f.] Diáthesi ) stands for:

  • Diathesis (linguistics) , a synonym for the genus Verbi , sometimes also distinguished from it as the semantic action role of the sentence subject
  • Diathesis (medicine) , certain pathological tendencies of the organism (for example hemorrhagic diathesis, i.e. the tendency to bleed)
