Dieter R. Fuchs (born November 15, 1952 in Zweibrücken ) is a German scientist and writer .

Life

After studying mineralogy and materials science in Clausthal-Zellerfeld and Saarbrücken, Fuchs initially worked on research expeditions in Iran, among others , and then headed a development aid project in Yemen for four years . He received his doctorate from the University of Saarland on up to this point unknown history of the South Arabian volcanics to Dr. rer. nat.

From 1986 he carried out research in various positions at the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research (ISC) in Würzburg in the areas of material development, archaeometry and environmental issues. From 1989 to 1996 he was involved in the BMBF joint project “Conservation and Restoration of Historic Glass Paintings” (BAU 5026 C / 4). In 1993 he carried out environmental monitoring with glass sensors at the Brandenburg Gate on behalf of the Berlin Senate Department for Urban Development and Environmental Protection . Before moving to Fraunhofer headquarters, he was involved in other research projects.

He has received several research awards for his scientific successes. With the development of the glass sensor method, he introduced a new measuring technique in the protection of cultural property , which has since been used successfully as a standard method in monument preservation and museum operations.

In 1996 he moved to the Fraunhofer headquarters in Munich , where he was responsible for the Department of International Cooperation . From 1996 to 2006 he set up the International Business Development department of the Fraunhofer Society .

From 2007 to 2012 he coordinated the Middle East and North Africa activities of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft as General Manager ( Fraunhofer Representative Office Middle East ) from Dubai .

From 2007 to 2010 he was the first German to hold the position of President of the world's largest umbrella organization for applied research WAITRO (World Association for Industrial and Technological Research Organizations).

Since his retirement in 2013 he has devoted himself to writing in the field of fiction . His works are shaped by Asian influence. In addition to his novels, short stories and poems are also published by various publishers.

Fuchs lives in Munich- Bogenhausen .
