Straight to the Chancellor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Straight to the Chancellor! was a project by students and graduates from various universities to promote social communication and grassroots democracy .

history

The website was launched publicly in October 2006 on the occasion of the publication of the podcasts by German Chancellor Angela Merkel . Citizens' questions to the Chancellor could be publicly asked and discussed. In the meantime, the Federal Press Office replied weekly to the three questions with the highest ratings for the respective week. The project “Direct to the Chancellor!” Was discontinued on April 30, 2018 as part of a restructuring of the Federal Press Office's offers.

Working principle

The contributions

Citizens' contributions were sorted according to topic and collected anew for each day. Each contribution could be evaluated in a point system.

Answers from the Chancellor

The three best-rated contributions by citizens were sent to the Chancellery and answered there by representatives of the Federal Press Office on behalf of the Chancellor. The original aim should be for the Chancellor to take action herself in the same way as her podcast and, if necessary, to provide the answer via video message.
