description

In 1615 the estate comprised the courtyard itself, a garden and several meadows.

history

The Dornauhof was first mentioned in the 14th century. At that time it was a simple farm and was probably owned by the Lords of Walsee . Later it came into the possession of the sovereigns. In 1512 Ulrich Vierteller was granted the right to purchase the property. During the second half of the 16th century the estate was owned by the Hofmann family. Georg Hofmann bequeathed the farm to his sister Juliana Strussnig in 1601. In 1604 she complained about attacks by the Jesuits who lived in the neighborhood . In 1608 she handed the farm over to her two sons. In 1615 the sons handed over the heavily indebted property to their brother-in-law Georg Dörrer. Since he was unable to pay off the high debts, he had to sell the Dornauhof to Wolfgang Vischer in 1634. His son transferred the farm to Johann Gabriel Freiherrn von Maschwander in 1652, but was able to redeem it soon afterwards. In 1662 Vischer sold the estate to Johann von Grienbach. Until 1710 the estate changed hands frequently. In that year it came into the possession of Sigmund Herr von Stubenberg, who sold it to the Jesuits in 1711. The Dornauhof, which was already dilapidated at that time, was demolished and the shepherd's monastery was built in its place in 1870.
