Dr. Death is a 2018 podcast from Wondery and is about Christopher Duntsch. The Texas surgeon was convicted of gross medical malpractice after thirty-one patients were seriously injured during his operations and two more died in the procedures. The podcast is presented by Laura Beil. It premiered on September 4, 2018 and comprises ten episodes.

marketing

To market the podcast, Wondery rented a billboard directly across from the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Plano (Baylor Plano). This was covered again only a few hours after the installation by Clear Channel Outdoor after several complaints were received. The Baylor Plano denied any involvement in the removal of the billboard.

Reactions

Dr. Tod received mostly positive reviews. According to GQ Magazine, the series is "the scariest podcast of the year".

TV adaptation

On October 3rd, 2018 it was announced that Universal Cable Productions had started development of the TV series, with Patrick Macmanus, showrunner of Happy !, who will be responsible for executive production and scriptwriting.
