Drehann sign

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Drehann sign (after Gustav Drehmann , Breslau, (1869–1932)) is a clinical test for examining orthopedic patients and is used to test the functionality of the hip joint .

A positive Drehann sign is when a 90 ° flexion in the hip joint is only possible with abduction and external rotation of the leg. The lower leg points inwards with the knee joint bent. Internal rotation of the leg in the affected hip joint is impossible (40 ° internal rotation is normal).

A positive Drehann sign is typically found in epiphyseal capitis femoris , the impingement syndrome, in advanced Perthes disease or osteoarthritis of the hip joint ( arthrosis deformans of the hip joint), but also in other diseases.
