Drop jump

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The drop jump is a jump form used in sport science for jump diagnostics to test the strength ability including the reactive strength ability of the jump muscles.

Normally the jump is performed from a defined, low fall height (approx. 30 cm), the arms are placed on the hips and have no active part in the movement. The jumper then hits the ground and tries to jump as high as possible.

During this jump, at least the flight altitude or duration, the contact time on the ground and the ratio of flight altitude / duration and contact duration are measured as a performance index, usually with the help of force plates .
