Printable version

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The print version is the presentation version of a website that has been reduced to the essential content components for printing.

In a print version, navigation elements and other secondary contents of a website that are useless in the context of the content and on the medium of paper are usually not available or hidden. In addition, the content is often prepared in such a way that no information is lost, but is also available in a form that can be displayed on paper, such as the destinations of hyperlinks .

A print version is either a stand-alone document or is created from the original document. The former is done through server-side scripts, the latter through client-side scripts or CSS . Due to the ever better CSS support of the web browser , the print version is now increasingly being created dynamically, so that printing via a separately called, reduced version is no longer necessary. Instead, the elements that are useless on the paper are automatically hidden for printing the normal document. This is also used by Wikipedia .

The print version of a web page can also be used to control the page as compact HTML - File without style sheets or other supporting files save.
