Dynamic wiper element

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dynamic Stripping Element (DAE) is a device used in shear cutting to strip the punch from the punch.

The DAE is a slotted sleeve (similar to a collet ) with a shoulder on the inside of the slotted end. The sleeve is located below the cutting geometry relevant for the cutting process in the die . After cutting a slug out of the sheet metal, the cutting punch must now dip into the approximately 0.2 mm smaller sleeve and expand it in the process. On the return stroke , the DAE strips the slug from the cutting punch so that it forcibly falls into the waste chute. To ensure safe stripping, the immersion depth in the DAE should be approx. 1 mm.

With the help of the DAE it is possible to prevent the punched slug from coming up. In this way, tools and products can be protected from damage and downtimes avoided.
