Eötvös (unit)

The Eötvös ( unit symbol :  E ; after Loránd Eötvös , the Hungarian inventor of the rotary or torsion balance ) is an obsolete unit of geophysics that has not been permitted since July 5, 1970 . It was used to indicate changes in gravitational acceleration between different geographic locations:
