e2fsprogs is a set of software utilities for creating, modifying and maintenance of ext2 - ext3 - and ext4 - file systems .
List of utilities
e2fsprogs consists of the following components:
- e2 fsck : an fsck program that checks and corrects inconsistencies
- resize2fs: allows file systems to expand or shrink
- mke2fs: creates an ext2, ext3 or ext4 filesystem
- dumpe2fs: displays information about the superblock and a group of blocks
- tune2fs: for changing the parameters of a file system
- debugfs : is required to manually display or change the internal structures of a file system
- chattr: is required to change the file attributes
- lsattr: save additional attributes
