Tracker is a drone , the purpose of which is real-time reconnaissance within a radius of 10 km. It is being developed by EADS in cooperation with SURVEYCOPTER. They heard how the Aladin the EMT to the mini UAVs ( U nmanned A erial V ehicles).

The aircraft was presented for the first time at the Paris-Le Bourget aviation fair in 2005.

A tracker system consists of the following components:

  • two aircraft
  • optical and infrared camera
  • Ground control station for mission preparation and control of the cameras

This system is highly mobile and can be stored in a backpack. Two people are required to operate and transport the tracker system. Due to its light weight, the aircraft can be started by hand.

The French defense procurement authority DGA ordered 160 tracker systems for the DRAC ( D rone de R econnaissance A u C ontact) program in January 2005. This order is worth 30 million euros.

AustriaAustria Austria

Tracker is the first unmanned aerial vehicle system used by the Austrian armed forces. The costs for six systems (each with three aircraft) should amount to 3 million euros. Delivery from 2013.
