The EGK-Gesundheitskasse (formerly "Die Eidgenössische" Gesundheitskasse ) is a Swiss insurance company specializing in health insurance . The core business of the health insurance company, founded in 1919 and organized in the legal form of a foundation , is basic insurance under the Health Insurance Act as well as supplementary insurance.
The EGK's specialty is barrier-free access to complementary medicine. She is considered a pioneer in this area. The SNE Foundation for Naturopathy and Empirical Medicine (SNE) was established in 1995 to strengthen the importance of complementary medicine. It is based in Solothurn.
In the basic insurance, but also in the supplementary insurance, the EGK-Gesundheitskasse had around 83,000 insured persons at the end of 2019.
