Certificate of authenticity for a set of coins

A Certificate of Authenticity ( English Certificate of Authenticity ) is a seal or label, which is to prove the authenticity of products. Software certificates of authenticity often contain a license number that is used to prove that the program is genuine. Certificates of authenticity usually do not grant any right of use (license) for the software. Certificates of authenticity are also common in the fashion and art industries.

Certificates of authenticity usually contain a description, the time of production and the names of the producers of the certified product. Contact details for the manufacturer are often noted on certificates of authenticity.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall , so-called wall woodpeckers sold parts of the wall with certificates of authenticity that were supposed to prove the origin of the fragments.
